is a media ecologist with a doctorate in Communication Studies, specializing in Digital Media and Culture from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MA in French Studies, from NYU’s Institute of French Studies, and a BA in French from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her academic background provides a unique perspective that enriches both her leadership and research endeavors. Dr. Davis’ work is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach to skillfully weaving elements of culture and technology. Her primary focus lies in exploring questions related to humanity’s interaction with technology within society, and she delves into the complex nuances of post-coloniality.

Her book, The Other Side of Empathy, (Duke 2023), has garnered acclaim for its thought-provoking content. It is a testament to shedding light on the complexities of navigating the technological society with cultural tools such as empathy. Within its pages, Dr. Davis expertly examines the boundaries and dimensions of empathy in contemporary society and technology, offering invaluable insights into the human experience and how we make sense of it.

Presently, Dr. Davis is a leader spearheading strategic human-focused technological innovation and operations for teaching, learning, and instructional design at University of Pennsylvnia Libraries as the Director of Educational Technology and Learning Management which includes overseeing the University’s courseware team. She guides a dedicated team committed to excellence and remains unwavering in her commitment to advancing educational technology and learning management services across the university.
