73-year-old porn star

Thanks CNN!!

I am working from home today, and taking a break because, well.. I am a bit in shock right now.  I have CNN on in the background and then in the background I heard, “73-year-old porn star.  Yes, mid-day, CNN did a report about a retired Japanese porn star who is 73.

Shigeo Tokuda looks like your average retiree, wearing a classy gray suit and distinguished glasses. But there is nothing average about this 73-year-old when he steps in front of the camera. Shigeo Tokuda is a porn star.

From women in their 20’s to their 70’s, Tokuda romances them all (sometimes more than one at a time).

Wow.  I mean, CNN stays on in the breakroom at my office.  How… I don’t even know the words.  I just couldn’t let this be missed though.

In the social context, I guess it makes sense.  Japan does have the oldest population on the planet apparently.

Pure Laine

So, Pure Laine… One of the best shows ever!!!   It’s from Quebec, and aired on TV5 Monde for a bit… that is how I am familiar with it.

Pure Laine introduces a “typical” contemporary Montréal family. Dominique, originally from Haiti, is married to Chantale, a “purebred” Quebecer. Their adopted daughter, Ming, was born in China. “I don’t see how our family could be any more québécois,” says Dominique, with no small measure of irony. “It’s like shepherd’s pie: a mix of white, yellow and brown!”

It is just well written, on point and all that jazz.  It is, in fact, one of my favorite shows.  And somehow I missed that they released the DVD of season 1 in February!!  And of course, now it is out of stock everywhere with no news on when they will have more.  So, I am bookmarking the amazon.ca page and checking it weekly because… Must. Have. Pure. Laine.  MUST!
