I do not think we should abscond the struggles of our forefathers. I do not think we are in a “post-racial” society. However, the role of race and other identifiers has changed drastically and the way these identifiers negotiated on a day to day bases has surely evolved. To deny this would be to be blind of the progress that has been made. To me, that is what this image represents. Yes, there are still large areas of empty space in this graphic, but they are filling up fast. When you pay attention to the development (different than growth) that is happening throughout the continent and within individual countries it is hard not to believe on some level that we are at the end of post-colonial age and moving on to something new.
